Students with additional needs

Annandale State School is fortunate to have special education program (SEP) support. A student may be supported by the Annandale State School SEP after approval by the Townsville executive director, through the Principal Education Officer- Student Services (PEO-SS). The PEO-SS may be reached on (07) 4726 3111.

The SEP is designated to support students with the following verified disabilities:

  • Intellectual impairment

  • Autism spectrum disorders

  • Speech and language impairments

All students supported by the SEP have the following support documents:

  • Individual education plan

  • Education adjustment profile

Students supported by the SEP may also have a positive behaviour support plan which has been collaboratively developed between the student's parents / carers and the school.

Students supported by the SEP are supported in a range of ways. Each student has individual needs and this is reflected in the support plan. Support may be through any combination of the following resources:

  • SEP teaching staff

  • Teacher aide

  • In class support by an SEP teacher or teacher aide

  • Programming support to the class teacher
