Welcome to our school community

Annandale State School established in January, 1998 and officially opened on 9th September 1998. It provide educational programs for students Prep to Year 7.

Annandale is unique in that it does not conform to a standard school plan but has been designed specifically for the climate and for the location. It consists of ten teaching blocks of four classrooms, one teaching block of three classrooms, one teaching blocks of two classrooms and seven practical learning areas. Each double classroom space incorporates a teachers' office and a quiet learning area. The practical learning areas are separate class size buildings, each of which has been designed and equipped for different areas of the curriculum, such as science, the arts, and living skills. Annandale also has a library resource centre, an instrumental music facility, with a sound proof practice room, and an administration block.

When the school opened only half the buildings were completed and a torrential wet season had turned the playgrounds into mud. The school operated side by side with a building site for the first six months and the children were able to watch their school being built before their very eyes. The excitement of working in such a challenging environment has had a bonding effect on both our students and staff, and one of the most noticeable characteristics of Annandale is the tremendous pride everyone has in our beautiful school.

Annandale State School is also fortunate in having a range of innovative features. The school is equipped and resourced to ensure an education which will prepare our students for the next millennium. Technology is a major focus and fibre optic cabling to all classrooms serves our school networks and enables every child to be able to have access to the internet for research and communication. All buildings are fully air conditioned to provide an ideal environment for teaching and learning during our North Queensland summers. All buildings are surrounded by attractive landscaped gardens, wide verandahs provide extensive shaded play areas, and a large oval and adventure playgrounds provide outdoor play areas.

While Annandale is very much a school of the future, we place great importance on ‘old fashioned' values, such as good manners, considerate behaviour and pride in our school and our selves. We believe that education is a partnership between the home and the school, and we greatly value parent involvement as fully as time and commitments allow. Parents are encouraged to help us in our endeavours to provide the very best education possible for our children, in a safe, secure and happy environment.

Our school motto is Creating the Future. Together, parents and staff , cooperate to support our students to develop their talent and potential. They are the key to our future.

Principal
